The Office actress Jenna Fischer revealed through a social media post that she was diagnosed with Stage 1 Triple Positive Breast Cancer. She opened up about her journey of battling cancer and said that she was fortunate that it was caught early, before spreading. The actress revealed that she is now cancer free. However, the journey was not easy for Jenna. She underwent a lumpectomy in January this year to remove the tumour and experienced 12 rounds of chemotherapy beginning in February and three weeks of radiation therapy which had started in June.
The actress further revealed that she lost her hair during chemotherapy but thanks to some great wigs and hats, she was able to wait to reveal all that has been going on for her. Explaining why she waited till now to make the announcement, she shared that she is ready to ditch the wigs and implored people to their annual mammograms.
She then hoped that her revelation will be a source of support to any woman who is going through something similar right now. Although she says that she is feeling great, the actress still must be treated with infusions of Herceptin and a daily dose of Tamoxifen. Jenna then gave a shoutout to everyone who was there for her in this journey, especially her The Office co-star and close friend, Angela Kinsey. She ended her note by thanking her husband and her kids and once again urged women to get their mammography done.
