Jayson Tatum of the Boston Celtics made a statement on Tuesday night with his massive performance against the New York Knicks.
Tatum scored 37 points and 10 assists during the huge 132-109 win and had quite a few people talking about what his season will be like.
Speaking on ESPN, via Savage on X, Stephen A. Smith used Tatum’s great performance as an opportunity to lay into Steve Kerr and his choice to not use the Celtics star often during the recent Paris Olympics.
Smith said:
“What Steve Kerr did to Jayson Tatum in the Olympics is egregious. You don’t go up to a first-team All-NBA player over the last three years who just won a championship a month earlier who spent the year averaging 27 a game and walk up to him before a game and say, ‘I don’t know how I’m going to find minutes for you.’”

Some people thought the controversy revolving around Kerr and Tatum’s time in the Olympics would fade when the new season began but that isn’t the case.
Instead, it seems like people are going to be even more invested in this situation and how Kerr relegated Tatum to the bench for most of the Olympics.
It’s become very clear that Tatum was upset by that choice and he took it personally.
Now it is time for him to get his revenge for all of 2024-25.
This obviously isn’t the last time fans will hear about Tatum’s benching during the Olympics.
If the Celtics continue to thrive throughout the season, you can expect many more comments like this one from Smith.
