EXCLUSIVE: After her scene-stealing role in the Road House reboot, Daniela Melchior is reuniting with Amazon on another big priority and she and Eric André have joined the cast of Amazon MGM Studios’ upcoming film Balls Up. They join previously announced stars Mark Wahlberg, Paul Walter Hauser, Molly Shannon, Eva De Dominici, and Benjamin Bratt with Peter Farrelly directing.
The film, which hails from Skydance, follows two American marketing executives who are fired for blowing a client sponsorship opportunity and decide to use their free tickets to a major soccer match. Their drunken debauchery leads them to be hunted by every person across the country in this action-comedy. Paul Wernick & Rhett Reese wrote the script.
Producers include Skydance’s David Ellison, Dana Goldberg, Don Granger, and Andrew Muscato; Paul Wernick, and Rhett Reese. Marc Fisher is executive producing.
The film marks the fourth collaboration between Amazon MGM Studios and Skydance after the critically acclaimed sports drama Air, The Tomorrow War starring Chris Pratt and Without Remorse starring Michael B. Jordan. The film also reunites Farrelly with Amazon MGM Studios after the comedy Ricky Stanicky starring Zac Efron, John Cena, Jermaine Fowler, and Andrew Santino, which debuted on Prime Video March 7.
Melchior can most recently be seen in Amazon MGM Studios’ Road House. Melchior held her own opposite star Jake Gyllenhaal in the hit movie that broke streaming records this past March when it premiered and recently had a sequel announced.
Prior to that film, Melchior breakout role came in the DC Studios pic The Suicide Squad. She would follow that up with a key role in another tentpole, Fast X followed by another in Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3. Melchior is represented by Gersh Agency, Brave Artists Management, and Felker Toczek Suddleson.
