Reviews:
“There are twists and turns, not just in the horror game they’re playing, but also in the dynamics between the livestreamers playing it – and like I said, it’s enough to keep your interest through the group’s trial and errors. Scattered throughout the narrative, there’s a bit of humor to be had, some infighting moments between players, and a dark reveal at the bitter end that provides a payoff worth watching for.” Cinefied
“Iannantuono displays a serious prowess for production and does not let financial shortcomings hinder her. The SFX for the IRL deaths have a nice DIY charm to them—and if you know me, you know that’s not shade; such stuff adds to a film’s tenacity, for me. And I cannot stress enough how good the virtual side of the story looks, all things considered.” Fearsome Queer
“Livescreamers continues its predecessor’s game-based horror without retreading the same ground in this spirited and feisty sequel. Iannantuono has fun toying with familiar gaming trends, contorting them to fit within the world of a fictional game. Meanwhile, she wields a clear and valid viewpoint in her commentary on the modern gaming community, even if some of these points don’t get the chance to fully breathe…” ★★★ Guy at the Movies
“Livescreamers, unfortunately, brings little more to the genre than grouping together concerns scattered throughout previous films. While the craft invested in making the video game convincing is admirable, it cannot substitute itself for subtle writing. Michelle Iannatuono has made an entertaining feature, frustrating at times but nonetheless intriguing at others.” ★★½ Horror DNA
“At its core, Livescreamers is a reflection of the evolving landscape of gaming culture, paying homage to the rise of live streaming and the communal experience of watching others play. Through its gripping storyline and relevant themes, the film transcends its gaming roots to offer a thought-provoking commentary on society’s obsession with technology and entertainment.” ★★★½ Horror Movies Uncut
“Livescreamers puts an interesting spin on screenlife horror and does enough to set itself apart from others of its ilk. The issues I had with it ultimately took me from loving the film to just liking it, but this film will connect incredibly well with the right people. You can tell Michelle Iannantuono is truly passionate about this film, and that’s where the true enjoyment comes from.” Horror Press
“I was quickly won over by the format and commitment to the schtick. Somehow, Michelle Iannantuono manages to dodge the pratfalls of similar offerings. By staying true to the roots of livestream gaming while offering up a searing critique of toxic fandom and performative authenticity, Livescreamers unabashedly embraces the indie horror charms of its roots.” ★★★★ Josh at the Movies
“The world of online gaming is huge, but nonetheless Livescreamers may find its appeal lands best with a comparatively small audience in the grander scheme of things, and that’s okay: it may be a film for one tribe in particular, but given its decent writing, authentic performances and a deft understanding of how to tell a story in ninety neat minutes, it’s a decent, enjoyable horror indie and a successful labour of love from director and writer Michelle Iannantuono. ” Warped Perspective
