The Los Angeles Lakers officially hired JJ Redick as their next head coach earlier this week and their choice has a lot of people talking.
Some feel he’s too fresh and inexperienced and others believe he will be just what the Lakers need.
Speaking to Jason Timpf, via The Volume, Jovan Buha spoke about why the Lakers decided to go with Redick.
He said Redick pitched himself as someone ready for the moment and free of past coaching philosophies that might not work in Los Angeles.
Finally, he was able to sell himself because of his communication skills and his “ability to effectively communicate with the players and command the locker room.”

Buha mentioned that the last two head coaches in Los Angeles have lost the faith of their players.
When a coach is no longer truly in command of the locker room, they have no chance of leading a team.
Redick might have more luck because not only did he play in the league but he knows many of these players personally, including LeBron James.
Plus, his years of broadcasting have given him impressive communication skills.
That means that he will be able to work out problems with players, relay his plans, and adjust via conversation and collaboration.
This could be a great thing for the Lakers, who sometimes look dysfunctional and out of sync with one another.
Redick’s inexperience is still troubling for many LA fans but he could win them over with big wins and a clear understanding of how to help the team get on track.
