I’ve been writing these Currently blog posts for years, once or twice a year, and I just made the mistake of going back and reading one from 2017 which has me all kinds of nostalgic about that chapter of life. That’s one benefit about sharing life online for the past 14 years; I have a detailed archive of the seasons, the growth, and all the joys (and struggles) of this beautiful life.
Currently it’s October 9 at 6:15 AM. I’m sitting on mom’s couch with a softly snoring Finley curled up beside me. I’m sipping coffee in a quiet house, mentally lining up my to dos for the day, peeking at my top 20 follower favorites from big deal days, and writing to you here. These blog posts are a fun breakdown of what life looks like categorically and if you’re in the spirit to share, I’d love to hear what you’re currently watching, reading, and more!
Currently Watching
Am I the only one not currently watching Nobody Wants This? Either their marketing deserves major props or everyone truly is watching it, but I’ve seen it everywhere. I’ve heard it described as romcom vibes so it’s on my short list to check out. However, right now I’m mostly watching Halloween movies and Wednesday with the kids. We love us some holiday themed movies! We also finished reading The Wild Robot and went to see it in the theater. It was cute! It was very different from the book and (per usual) the book had much better character development, but the movie was sweet and fun and we enjoyed it.
Currently Reading
We’re all in agreement that audiobooks count as reading, correct? Excellent. In that case, I’m reading Good Energy by Casey Means. You might have heard of her; she’s the Stanford trained doctor making the rounds through the podcast circuit talking about whole body health. After reading and taking some time to digest Outlive (highly recommend reading this one in small chunks), I was ready for more about how all our bodily systems are connected and how to optimize our health for now and in the future.
I’m also listening to the free audiobook on Audible read beautifully by Rachel McAdams of Anne of Green Gables with the kids (we are all immensely enjoying Anne’s flair for the dramatic) and we are about to begin Little Women (an abridged version).
Currently Listening To
A mix of 90’s country, classical music, and podcasts. How is that for a mix? My three most listened to podcasts at the moment are Breaking Points, The Genius Life, and 1000 Hours Outside. There are multiple others in the mix, too, but on walks I’ve been Marco Polo-ing (it’s a video message app) to catch up with friends, so I haven’t listened as much to podcasts.
Currently Eating
- Pumpkin Chicken Chili
- Eggs, cottage cheese and tomatoes with basil, blueberries
- Fajitas with chicken, steak, refried beans, lettuce, sauteed bell peppers, sour cream, guacamole, and fresh oregano
- Vegetable Barley Soup
- Easy Slow Cooker Beef Stew (I use the same method for pot roast and beef stew- beef stew version is when I just cut the beef into large chunks before cooking, leave out the cream of mushroom soup, and add beef bone broth instead)
Currently Planning
A move! We are a couple weeks away at this point of moving into the new house and it’s getting very exciting. There is a lot to coordinate since we currently having full storage unit back in North Carolina and in Greenville, as well as the items we have here at mom’s house. Additionally we are trying to figure out when is the best time to purchase a few new items for delivery. Several have a time frame delivery span from a week before we close to two weeks after we close so it’s tricky to thread that needle on timing to try and get it as close to just after we move in as possible. It’s all bringing good energy though; we can’t believe we will actually be getting to move into this home we’ve been watching come to life over the past year.
Currently Drinking
Quite a mix of things. Coffee with half and half in the morning, followed by my daily LMNT, followed by water, followed by a cup of Trader Joe’s Harvest Blend hot tea, followed by pre-workout and more water, and then sometimes followed by a glass of red wine.
In the Market for
A bed. We hadn’t planned on switching out our master bedroom set up, but a variety of circumstances now has us doing so. I’ve spent a lot of time lately looking at headboards, testing mattresses, researching sheets, etc. I’ve splurged on Boll & Branch bedding for the first time after hearing so many rave reviews and am really hoping it’s as amazing as I’ve heard! The bed itself has been tripping me up the most. I can’t decide if I like wood, upholstered, or a mix of the two. I’m open to feedback on this if you have any. Currently I am leaning towards this look below (just the bed itself)- thoughts? Our walls in the new bedroom are painted Magnetic Gray if that helps.
Currently Looking Forward to
Family time! The girls and I get to see Mema and Grandpa tonight and then next week we are going on a family trip with mom, Kris, Cara, and my nieces. We usually do this in summer, but opted for fall this year and I’m very much looking forward to some relaxing and catching up with everyone. David is traveling all this week and will meet us on Friday; I can’t wait!
That’s all I have for now. Time to take Finley on her morning sniffari, get the girls up, and start our day. Thanks for making my blog a part of your day; I hope it’s a good one!
