It’s not usual to see NFL kickers draw this much attention, but it’s been quite an eventful offseason for the Kansas City Chiefs and their PR staff.
It’s been weeks since Harrison Butker’s controversial commencement speech went viral.
And while he’s gotten plenty of support from a portion of the population, and his teammates and coaches claimed that he was entitled to his opinion, it seems like he may have put himself in a tough position.
However, that may not have anything to do with the Chiefs’ decision not to use him in the same role on some kickoffs next season.
Recently, Chiefs special teams coordinator Dave Toub revealed that the Chiefs could use another player, such as S Justin Reid, in certain kickoff situations because of the new kickoff rules.
Toub argued that the team should look to get someone out there who’s able to make a tackle, and while Butker is clearly more than able to do so, he doesn’t want to put him in that position all year, as his body would have to withstand and endure a beating that he’s clearly not used to.
With that in mind, NFL analyst Mina Kimes took to Twitter to jokingly claim that cancel culture had claimed another job.

The Chiefs could use this unique approach because Justin Reid can kick, says coach Toub.
That way, their controversial kicker would stay fresh and healthy to do what he does best on the field, which is put up points on the scoreboard for the reigning Super Bowl champions.
