EXCLUSIVE: BritBox International has picked up Channel 4‘s BAFTA-nominated menopause comedy The Change.
The show from Clarkson’s Farm maker Expectation is created, written by and stars Bridget Christie, and has already been recommissioned for a second season.
The Change follows Linda Jenkins, who is convinced she’s got early onset dementia but is informed by her doctor it is, in fact, the menopause. Feeling invigorated and empowered by this information, Linda decides to claw back some of the time she’s spent doing ‘invisible work’ over the years and do something for herself.
The show has been received warmly by critics and Christie was shortlisted for a BAFTA in the Female Performance category. Upon its recommission in May, Channel 4 comedy boss Charlie Perkins said it celebrates a “distinctive, artistic, and uniquely funny take on subject matter.”
Christie said of the BritBox news: “I can’t think of a better way for Linda to make her American debut than on BritBox International, home of all things great and British. Hollywood here we come, I’m packed already.”
BritBox International recently boarded UKTV’s Mitford Sisters drama, with other shows in the offing including its latest Agatha Christie co-pro with the BBC starring Anjelica Huston.
