For two decades, Bill Belichick ran the New England Patriots like a military setting.
His system seemed to be flawless at times, and it was always his way or the highway.
Not even his best player, Tom Brady, got any sort of special treatment.
That’s why it only makes sense that Jerod Mayo is looking to do some things differently.
However, that has also gotten him under the microscope to start training camp.
With that in mind, Christian Fauria claims that people should at least give him a chance to prove himself before scrutinizing every single thing he does or doesn’t do.
Talking on The Gresh & Fauria Show, he stated that it was only normal to see that he’s moving on from some of the previous practices while also keeping some things from the Belichick days in place.
Jerod Mayo has been under a lot of scrutiny through the opening weeks of Training Camp.

Mayo needs to build and develop his own coaching style, and that will only come with experience.
Of course, he’s going to make some mistakes along the way; everybody does.
But Belichick and Robert Kraft chose him and prepared him for this moment for a reason.
The Patriots are a flawed team with several holes on the roster, and it will take time before they become one of the powerhouses again — if ever.
Still, it’s not wise or fair to count out a head coach in his first year on the job, especially if he hasn’t even coached an actual game.
