Reviews:
“The characters in Aberration play it smart while keeping it cool, slyly commenting on the situation without drifting into camp, and never rendered helpless or shrieking. However, at its core, Aberration is basically about a girl in a cabin forced into pest control, so it never really inspires terror in the way that the best “animals run amok” movies do.” Cinema Gonzo
“Amy and Marshall are the most unpleasant couple I have ever had the disservice to cheer for. Director Tim Boxell spent all of his money on the gore effects, so for every disgusting bloody lizard stomping, there is a horrible puppet lizard effect. Dumb ideas are introduced then dropped.” Criticless
“The 90s were full of low-budget horror films from the genre that you really don’t have to see. This cute lizard twist should be seen at least once. The little but lovingly done gore and shock effects alone are worth the trip.” 6.5 out of 10, Dark Movie Dreams
“The critters themselves are obviously rubber and some of the scenes with them are laughable (there’s one getting squished underfoot that I remember especially). The hands of the guy throwing them at the actors are sometimes visible. That said, it’s a pretty tightly constructed horror film with some decent acting and direction, despite some quibbles…” Down Among the “Z” Movies
“This is a basic variation on the mutant killer species sub-genre similar to Empire of the Ants or Kingdom of the Spiders. It’s bloodier and heavier on the gross-out factor of the earlier movies, but at least it has a sense of humor. It isn’t particularly convincing, but the leads are appealing enough that you might forgive it some of its flaws.” Fantastic Movie Musings and Ramblings
“The setup is solid for a low-budget horror film, and it contains all the elements it needs to be a solid low-budget horror film (including capable actors). That the film fails the premise isn’t the premise’s fault. It’s the fault of the filmmakers.” 4.5 out of 10, The Gentlemen’s Blog to Midnite Cinema
“Don’t be expecting any great shakes when you rent Aberration, but if (like me) you rent it expecting another suckfest, you’ll probably be pleasantly surprised. And here’s hoping that Gidley doesn’t wind up doing small movies like this for the rest of her career. She’s got a ton of charisma and she’s not bad to look at, either.” Reel Film Reviews
“There’s a decent “mouth pop” moment here also although sometimes it seems the movie sports almost too much jokey dialogue, there’s a fairly dumb finale set in the general store and there seems to be one “story conclusion” too many. Don’t expect much and you’ll be fine.” The Video Graveyard
