There is plenty of energy and hope surrounding the Chicago Bears these days, thanks to the arrival of No. 1 overall draft pick Caleb Williams and the strong offensive cast he has around him.
Some are predicting a playoff appearance for the Bears, something that has happened just twice since the 2010 season.
Though Adam Schein is one of those predicting the Bears will make the playoffs and feels Williams will have “the single best season ever for any quarterback” in franchise history, the radio host has some serious doubts about head coach Matt Eberflus.
“My biggest concern for this year and beyond, I have no idea if Matt Eberflus can coach,” Schein said, via Mad Dog Sports Radio.

Eberflus was rumored to be on the hot seat last season when Chicago went 7-10, but as Schein noted, he kept his job because their defense showed promise.
The trade the Bears made a year ago, when they dealt the No. 1 overall pick in the 2023 NFL Draft to the Carolina Panthers, was questioned at the time, but it’s now looking like a stroke of genius.
That trade brought them the draft pick that became Williams, as well as wide receiver D.J. Moore and a second-round pick in the 2025 draft.
The Bears also traded for six-time Pro Bowl wide receiver Keenan Allen this offseason and used their own No. 9 overall pick on wideout Rome Odunze from the University of Washington.
Some may think a team that talented on paper is easy to coach, but in fact, it is easy to mess up such a situation.
Schein said if the Bears finish 8-9 this season, Eberflus will be fired and Williams will essentially have to start over again next year with a brand new offensive system.
