The Indianapolis Colts are making a change at quarterback ahead of their “Sunday Night Football” matchup with the Minnesota Vikings, starting veteran Joe Flacco over Anthony Richardson.
The decision comes on the heels of a disastrous performance by Richardson in the Week 8 loss at the Houston Texans, when Richardson went 10-for-32 for 175 yards with one touchdown and one interception.
As bad as his performance was, it was overshadowed by his asking to come out of the game for a play because he was tired.
Former NFL MVP Cam Newton recently ripped into Richardson, as many other analysts have done.
“You made certain quotes over this past offseason of you saying things like this (a clip of Richardson saying college football is easier than the NFL). … You’re in the big leagues now, guy. … This game is not easy, bro,” Newton said on the “4thand1show.”

Newton acknowledged that when he played he needed to have the athleticism and endurance of wide receivers and running backs but said it was also important for him to maintain the mental acumen required of being a great quarterback.
He heaped praise upon Lamar Jackson for winning MVP awards and said that what he does isn’t easy, while Richardson checking out of a game is the easy way out.
Richardson is still just 22 years old and his performance this season has left many to wonder if the Colts should have let him sit and develop for a year or two instead of throwing him right into the fire.
